Job Description
Are you passionate about education and dedicated to helping students achieve their academic goals? Kumon Rose Hill Centre is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Part-Time Tutor (Instructor Assistant) to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in guiding students through the Kumon Maths and English programmes, fostering their independent learning skills, and boosting their confidence. This isn’t just about providing answers; it’s about empowering students to discover solutions themselves, build strong foundational skills, and develop a proactive approach to their studies. You will work directly with students of varying ages and abilities, providing one-on-one and small group support, assessing their progress, and ensuring they are working at their optimal level. Key Responsibilities
- Guide and instruct students through the Kumon Maths and English worksheets, ensuring correct application of the Kumon Method.
- Observe students' study habits and provide constructive feedback to encourage independent learning and problem-solving.
- Monitor student progress, record daily achievements, and communicate effectively with the lead Instructor regarding individual student needs.
- Foster a positive, encouraging, and focused learning environment that motivates students to excel.
- Assist with centre operations, including setting up and tidying the study area, preparing student work, and managing materials.
- Provide clear, concise explanations and examples to help students grasp new concepts and correct errors independently.
- Ensure students adhere to centre rules and maintain discipline during study sessions.
Required Skills
- Strong proficiency in Mathematics and/or English, up to secondary school level.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially with children and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help students learn and grow.
- Ability to motivate and encourage students to develop self-learning habits.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for monitoring progress.
- Reliability and punctuality for scheduled sessions.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in tutoring, teaching, or working with children in an educational setting.
- A background in education, psychology, or a related field.
- Familiarity with the Kumon Method or a similar individualized learning approach.
- Relevant certifications or diplomas in education or specific subject areas.
