Job Description
Career.zycto is actively seeking enthusiastic and knowledgeable Tutors to provide exceptional private and online educational support to students in Bucksburn, Aberdeen, and surrounding areas. This is a fantastic opportunity for dedicated educators to make a significant impact on student achievement, working flexibly around their own schedule. As a Tutor with Career.zycto, you will be responsible for delivering engaging, tailored, and effective lessons across various subjects, including but not limited to Maths, English, Sciences, and Humanities, at different academic levels from primary school to university entrance.
We are looking for individuals who possess a genuine passion for teaching and a deep understanding of their chosen subjects. You will be instrumental in helping students overcome academic challenges, build confidence, and achieve their full potential. This role requires excellent communication skills, adaptability, and the ability to create a supportive and stimulating learning environment. Whether you prefer one-on-one private sessions at a student’s home or through our interactive online platform, your primary goal will be to foster a love for learning and equip students with the necessary skills for academic success. You will work closely with students to identify their strengths and weaknesses, develop customized learning plans, and track progress, providing regular feedback to both students and parents/guardians. Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, personalized tutoring sessions, both privately (in-person, if preferred and arranged) and online, adapting to individual student needs and learning styles.
- Develop and implement bespoke learning plans, setting clear goals and tracking student progress effectively.
- Prepare engaging and relevant educational materials, exercises, and assessments to support learning objectives.
- Provide constructive feedback to students on their performance, offering guidance and strategies for improvement.
- Communicate regularly and professionally with students, and their parents/guardians, regarding progress, challenges, and upcoming sessions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of curriculum requirements and educational best practices for relevant subjects.
- Manage scheduling and administrative tasks efficiently, ensuring timely attendance and record-keeping.
- Foster a positive, encouraging, and respectful learning environment that motivates students to excel.
Required Skills
- Demonstrable expertise in at least one core academic subject (e.g., Maths, English, Science) up to secondary school level.
- Proven ability to explain complex concepts clearly and concisely.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with students of varying ages and backgrounds.
- Proficiency in using online tutoring platforms and educational technology.
- Reliable internet connection and appropriate tutoring setup for online sessions.
- Organisational and time management skills to handle multiple students and schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant academic field.
- Previous tutoring or teaching experience in a formal or informal setting.
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs or disabilities.
- Knowledge of the Scottish curriculum (e.g., National 5, Higher, Advanced Higher).
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
