Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough research and analysis of socio-economic data, environmental impacts, and land use patterns.
  • Prepare detailed urban planning reports, policy briefs, proposals, and presentations for various stakeholders.
  • Collaborate effectively with architects, engineers, environmental specialists, and community groups to integrate diverse perspectives.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of urban regeneration schemes and master plans.
  • Interpret and apply relevant planning policies, regulations, and legislation, with a focus on quickly learning UK-specific frameworks.
  • Facilitate and lead public consultations and workshops to gather community input and ensure inclusive development.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of urban development projects, ensuring adherence to plans and objectives.
  • Contribute to bid proposals and project acquisition strategies, demonstrating feasibility and vision.
  • Utilize GIS and other planning software for advanced spatial analysis, mapping, and visualization.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Urban Planning, City Planning, Architecture, Geography, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in urban planning or a related discipline.
  • Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and CAD software for design and analysis.
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities, with an aptitude for critical thinking.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, suitable for reports and presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • A solid understanding of sustainable development principles and practices in urban contexts.
  • Legal authorization to work in the UK, or a clear willingness and eligibility to obtain it.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Membership or eligibility for membership with the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or an equivalent international professional body.
  • Direct experience with UK planning policy and legislation, including the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF).
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Asana, Trello) to track tasks and deadlines.
  • Extensive experience in community engagement and stakeholder management for complex projects.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating successful urban planning projects and innovative solutions.
  • Fluency in additional languages, enhancing communication with diverse communities.
