Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Remote UX Designer with a strong foundation in Design Thinking to join our innovative team at Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC). This is a unique opportunity to shape the digital future of a leading national telecommunications company, working on projects that impact millions of users across Botswana. As a remote UX Designer, you will play a pivotal role in researching, designing, and iterating on intuitive and engaging user experiences for our wide array of digital products and services, including mobile applications, web platforms, and internal tools. You will be instrumental in advocating for the user throughout the product lifecycle, employing a human-centered approach to uncover needs, define problems, and prototype solutions. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive user research, including interviews, surveys, usability testing, and contextual inquiries, to understand user behaviors, needs, and motivations.
- Translate user research findings and business requirements into user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups.
- Facilitate and lead Design Thinking workshops and ideation sessions with cross-functional teams to generate innovative solutions.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to define product strategy, requirements, and design specifications.
- Develop and maintain design systems, style guides, and component libraries to ensure consistency and efficiency across all digital products.
- Iterate on designs based on user feedback, usability testing results, and performance metrics.
- Ensure all designs adhere to accessibility standards and best practices (e.g., WCAG).
- Present and articulate design concepts and rationale to stakeholders, effectively communicating design decisions.
- Stay informed about the latest UX/UI trends, tools, and technologies to continuously improve our design practices.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a UX Designer with a strong portfolio showcasing user-centered design principles and solutions.
- Expertise in Design Thinking methodologies and their practical application.
- Proficiency with industry-standard design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD).
- Solid understanding of user research methods and data analysis techniques.
- Strong command of information architecture, interaction design, and visual design principles.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions clearly.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
- Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a remote, distributed team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience with service design or customer journey mapping.
- Familiarity with front-end development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to understand technical feasibility.
- Experience designing for telecommunications or other large-scale service industries.
- Certifications in Design Thinking or UX/UI design.
