Career.zycto is actively seeking a dedicated and reliable Van Driver to join our growing local transport and logistics team in Fairfield, Liverpool. As a Van Driver, you will be the face of our company on the road, responsible for the safe and efficient delivery and collection of goods across designated routes within Liverpool and the surrounding areas.
Your day will involve planning the most efficient delivery routes, conducting pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness, and meticulously loading and unloading cargo, ensuring its security and integrity during transit. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate a company van for local deliveries and collections within Liverpool and surrounding areas.
- Plan and follow the most efficient routes for timely deliveries, utilising navigation tools as required.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any defects or maintenance needs promptly.
- Load and unload goods with care, ensuring proper securing and handling to prevent damage during transit.
- Maintain accurate delivery records, including proof of delivery, mileage logs, and fuel consumption.
- Provide excellent customer service during interactions, representing Career.zycto professionally.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company policies, and health and safety regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, warehouse staff, and customers regarding delivery status or issues.
- Assist with warehouse duties or vehicle cleaning as needed during downtime.
- Handle cash or process payments for goods if required, ensuring accuracy and security.
Required Skills
- Valid UK driving license (Category B) with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Proven experience as a van driver in a commercial or logistics setting.
- Excellent knowledge of Liverpool and surrounding road networks.
- Strong understanding of road safety regulations and driving laws.
- Ability to lift and move packages up to 25kg safely and repeatedly.
- Reliable, punctual, and highly organised.
- Customer-focused with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge for daily checks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with handheld scanning devices or delivery management software.
- Clean driving record.
- First Aid certification.
