Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a company van for local multi-drop deliveries and collections across Sheffield and nearby regions.
- Efficiently load and unload goods, ensuring proper securing and handling to prevent damage during transit.
- Plan and follow the most efficient delivery routes, adapting to traffic and unforeseen circumstances.
- Accurately complete delivery paperwork, digital logs, and utilize handheld devices for proof of delivery.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any defects or maintenance needs promptly.
- Provide exceptional customer service during deliveries, maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company safety policies.
- Maintain the cleanliness and basic upkeep of the assigned company vehicle.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, warehouse staff, and customers regarding delivery statuses or issues.
- Manage time effectively to meet scheduled delivery windows and complete routes efficiently.
Required Skills
- Valid UK Driving License (Category B) with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Clean driving record and proven history of safe driving practices.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a van driver or in a similar professional delivery role.
- Excellent knowledge of Sheffield and surrounding road networks.
- Physical ability to lift, carry, and move packages of varying weights safely.
- Strong time management, organisational, and route planning skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills for interacting with customers and colleagues.
- High level of reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
