Career.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and meticulous Vehicle Inspector with current MOT & Compliance accreditation to join our busy and growing team in Islington, London. This is a pivotal role where your expertise will directly contribute to road safety and regulatory adherence within the local community. As a Vehicle Inspector, you will be responsible for conducting thorough and impartial inspections on a wide range of vehicles, ensuring they meet the stringent standards set by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and other relevant compliance bodies.
Your day-to-day will involve performing comprehensive MOT tests, identifying defects, advising on necessary repairs, and maintaining meticulous records of all inspections. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough and impartial MOT tests on Class 4, 5 & 7 vehicles in accordance with DVSA guidelines.
- Perform detailed pre-inspection checks and identify vehicle defects or non-compliance issues.
- Accurately record and document all inspection findings, test results, and compliance information using digital systems.
- Provide clear, concise, and professional advice to customers regarding vehicle faults and necessary repairs.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment within the inspection bay.
- Stay up-to-date with all current DVSA regulations, legislative changes, and industry best practices.
- Operate and calibrate testing equipment (e.g., brake testers, emission testers) in line with manufacturer specifications.
- Collaborate with service and repair teams to ensure efficient workflow and customer satisfaction.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety policies and procedures.
- Assist with other workshop duties as required, contributing to overall team success.
Required Skills
- Valid DVSA issued MOT Tester licence (Class 4, 5 & 7 minimum).
- Proven experience conducting MOT tests and vehicle inspections.
- Extensive knowledge of vehicle mechanics, diagnostics, and automotive systems.
- Thorough understanding of DVSA testing standards and compliance regulations.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in using computerised diagnostic and record-keeping systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and integrity.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
- Additional DVSA testing classes (e.g., Class 1, 2, 3, 6).
- Advanced diagnostic qualifications or certifications.
- Experience with electric and hybrid vehicles.
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role within the automotive industry.
- Familiarity with various workshop management software.
