Key Responsibilities
- Perform thorough and accurate MOT inspections on Class 4, 5 (light), and 7 vehicles in strict accordance with DVSA guidelines.
- Conduct detailed pre-MOT checks and advise customers on any necessary repairs or maintenance work required to pass the test.
- Utilise diagnostic equipment and advanced tools to identify faults and non-compliance issues efficiently.
- Maintain meticulous records of all inspections, tests, and repairs using the workshop's digital management system.
- Clearly and professionally communicate inspection results and recommended actions to customers, explaining technical issues in an understandable manner.
- Stay continuously updated with the latest changes in MOT regulations, vehicle technology, and industry best practices.
- Collaborate effectively with the wider workshop team, including technicians and service advisors, to ensure a seamless workflow and exceptional customer experience.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations within the workplace, maintaining a clean and organised inspection bay.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior staff members when required.
Required Skills
- Current DVSA approved MOT Tester certification for Class 4, 5 (light), and 7 vehicles.
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) as a Vehicle Inspector with specific focus on MOT and compliance.
- Exceptional diagnostic and technical problem-solving abilities across various vehicle systems.
- In-depth knowledge of automotive mechanics, electrics, and structural components.
- Demonstrable attention to detail and a methodical approach to vehicle inspection.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective customer interaction and record-keeping.
- Proficiency in using computerised diagnostic tools and workshop management software.
- A full, valid UK driving license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant Level 3 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or an equivalent recognised automotive qualification.
- Additional certifications in advanced vehicle systems (e.g., hybrid/EV technology).
- Experience with various vehicle makes and models, including light commercial vehicles.
