Cervejas de Moçambique (CDM) is seeking a dedicated Full-Time Venue Setup Aide to join our Facilities Management team in the bustling Chimoio Industrial Area. This essential role plays a pivotal part in ensuring our corporate and event spaces are flawlessly prepared for a wide range of activities, from high-level business meetings and training sessions to celebratory gatherings and product showcases. As a Venue Setup Aide, you will be responsible for the timely and precise setup, teardown, and maintenance of all venue equipment and furnishings. This isn’t just about moving tables and chairs; it’s about creating the perfect ambiance and functional layout that supports the success of every event hosted within our premises. You will work closely with event organizers, facilities managers, and various internal departments to understand specific requirements and translate them into a perfectly executed physical space. Your keen eye for detail will ensure all technical equipment, decor, and structural elements are not only correctly placed but also impeccably presented and safe for all participants. Key Responsibilities

  • Execute the precise setup and arrangement of tables, chairs, staging, audio-visual equipment, and other event furnishings according to event layouts and specifications.
  • Perform efficient teardown and storage of venue equipment post-event, ensuring all items are returned to designated storage areas in an organized manner.
  • Conduct pre-event checks to ensure all equipment is functional, clean, and in good repair; report any damages or malfunctions promptly.
  • Assist with the installation and removal of decorations, signage, and thematic elements as required for various events.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of all venue spaces, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and waste removal before, during, and after events.
  • Operate basic hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for minor repairs or adjustments to venue equipment.
  • Provide logistical support for events, including loading and unloading materials, and transporting equipment within the facility.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company policies, especially when handling heavy equipment or working at heights (where applicable).
  • Collaborate effectively with the Facilities Management team, event coordinators, and other departments to ensure seamless event execution.
  • Assist with inventory management of venue equipment and supplies, noting quantities and conditions of items.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 25kg) regularly.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to precision in setup.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as dictated by event schedules.
  • Basic understanding of safety procedures in an industrial or event setting.
  • Reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a venue setup, event support, or facilities assistant role.
  • Basic knowledge of audio-visual equipment setup and troubleshooting.
  • Valid Mozambican driving license (Category B or higher).
  • Fluency in Portuguese (essential for local communication).
  • Experience operating forklifts or other material handling equipment (certification preferred).
