Key Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures.
- Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
- Monitor vital signs, collect samples (blood, urine, faeces), and perform basic laboratory tests.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative care, including monitoring anaesthesia and recovery.
- Maintain cleanliness and sterility of examination rooms, surgical suites, and animal housing areas.
- Educate pet owners on animal care, nutrition, medication administration, and post-treatment instructions.
- Handle and restrain animals safely and humanely.
- Manage patient records, schedule appointments, and maintain inventory of supplies and medications.
- Assist in radiography, ultrasonography, and other diagnostic imaging procedures.
- Respond to emergency situations calmly and efficiently, providing first aid when necessary.
Required Skills
- Diploma or Certificate in Veterinary Nursing/Technology or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of practical experience in a veterinary clinic setting.
- Proficiency in animal restraint and handling techniques.
- Strong knowledge of veterinary medical terminology, procedures, and pharmacology.
- Ability to administer injections, draw blood, and perform basic laboratory tests.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with empathy for animals and their owners.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
- Proficiency in using veterinary practice management software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with a variety of animal species (e.g., small animals, exotics).
