Job Description
We are seeking a highly creative and skilled Video Editing and Reel Creation Specialist to join our remote team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for transforming raw footage into captivating and polished video content, primarily focusing on short-form reels for social media platforms and longer-form content for our digital channels. You will work closely with our content creators, journalists, and marketing team to conceptualize, edit, and produce visually stunning videos that align with Kigali Today’s editorial standards and brand identity. This position requires a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of current social media trends, exceptional storytelling abilities through visual media, and proficiency in professional video editing software. You will be instrumental in enhancing our digital presence, driving engagement, and effectively communicating our message to a diverse audience. Key Responsibilities
- Edit raw video footage into compelling, high-quality short-form reels (for platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Facebook) and longer-form videos for YouTube and our website.
- Develop creative concepts and storyboards for video projects in collaboration with content strategists and journalists.
- Apply advanced editing techniques, including color correction, sound design, motion graphics, and visual effects, to enhance video quality and impact.
- Ensure all video content aligns with Kigali Today’s brand guidelines, editorial standards, and legal requirements.
- Stay updated on the latest video editing software, social media trends, and digital storytelling techniques.
- Manage and organize video assets, ensuring efficient workflow and archiving practices.
- Incorporate feedback from team members and stakeholders effectively to refine video edits.
- Optimize video content for various platforms, considering aspect ratios, file sizes, and best practices for audience engagement.
- Contribute to brainstorming sessions for new video content ideas and strategies.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop.
- Proven experience in creating engaging short-form video content and reels for social media.
- Strong understanding of video storytelling principles and visual aesthetics.
- Excellent attention to detail and a keen eye for visual continuity and pacing.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment.
- Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Solid understanding of current social media platforms and their video content requirements.
