Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Virtual Learning Evaluation Officer to join our dynamic team in Chelsea, London. In an era where digital education is more crucial than ever, this role is pivotal in ensuring the quality, effectiveness, and impact of our virtual learning provisions across Kensington and Chelsea College. The successful candidate will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive evaluation frameworks for our online courses, platforms, and educational technologies. You will be responsible for gathering and analysing both quantitative and qualitative data related to student engagement, learning outcomes, instructor performance, and overall user experience within our virtual environments. This critical position involves identifying key areas of strength, pinpointing challenges, and formulating actionable recommendations to enhance our digital pedagogical practices and learning resources. You will work collaboratively with educators, curriculum developers, IT support, and other stakeholders to integrate evaluation insights into continuous improvement cycles, directly influencing the learning journey of thousands of students. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement robust evaluation frameworks and methodologies for virtual learning initiatives and platforms.
  • Collect, analyse, and interpret quantitative data (e.g., VLE analytics, completion rates) and qualitative data (e.g., student surveys, focus groups, interviews) to assess learning effectiveness and user satisfaction.
  • Produce comprehensive evaluation reports, summarising findings, identifying trends, and providing evidence-based recommendations for improvement to relevant stakeholders.
  • Monitor and research emerging trends and best practices in virtual learning, educational technology, and evaluation methodologies.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, curriculum developers, and IT teams to integrate evaluation insights into course design, content delivery, and technical support.
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and impact of virtual learning programs.
  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions to promote evaluation literacy and best practices among educators.
  • Ensure all evaluation activities adhere to ethical guidelines, data protection regulations, and institutional policies.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning and continuous improvement of the college’s virtual learning strategy.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in educational evaluation, research, or quality assurance, specifically within a virtual or blended learning context.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in both qualitative and quantitative data analysis methods and tools (e.g., Excel, statistical software).
  • Familiarity with various Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs) such as Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard, or equivalent platforms.
  • Excellent report writing, presentation, and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex findings clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • A deep understanding of pedagogical principles relevant to online learning and instructional design.
  • Proficiency in using feedback mechanisms and survey tools (e.g., SurveyMonkey, Google Forms).

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Master's degree in Education, Educational Technology, Learning Sciences, or a related field.
  • Experience working within the Further Education (FE) or Higher Education (HE) sector in the UK.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design principles for online learning environments.
  • Experience with learning analytics platforms and dashboards.
