Key Responsibilities

  • Warmly greeting and seating guests upon their arrival, making them feel at home.
  • Presenting menus clearly, explaining daily specials, and confidently making recommendations based on guest preferences.
  • Taking accurate food and drink orders using our advanced POS system and relaying them precisely to the kitchen and bar.
  • Serving food and beverages promptly, efficiently, and elegantly, ensuring presentation standards are met.
  • Anticipating guest needs and responding to requests in a timely, professional, and courteous manner.
  • Ensuring tables are clean, properly set, and maintained throughout service, including clearing dishes and refilling drinks.
  • Handling payment transactions and processing bills accurately and securely.
  • Collaborating effectively with kitchen and bar staff to ensure smooth service flow and guest satisfaction.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and inviting dining area and workstation at all times.
  • Adhering strictly to all health, safety, and hygiene standards and regulations.
  • Assisting with opening and closing duties, including setting up and breaking down dining areas.
  • Actively listening to guest feedback and addressing concerns to ensure a positive dining experience.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Waiter/Waitress in a restaurant or hospitality setting.
  • Excellent customer service and exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication abilities, both verbal and active listening.
  • Ability to work efficiently and remain calm in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, precision in order taking, and ability to multitask effectively.
  • Familiarity with modern POS (Point of Sale) systems.
  • Impeccable personal grooming and professional presentation.
  • Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods and carry trays.
  • Fluency in English and French to communicate effectively with a diverse clientele.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in an authentic Chinese restaurant or a similar themed establishment.
  • Knowledge of local Mauritian cuisine and dining preferences.
  • Additional language proficiency (e.g., Creole, Mandarin) is a significant advantage.
  • Certification in Food Safety and Hygiene practices.
  • A passion for food and beverage, with an eagerness to learn about our menu.
