Job Description
Are you passionate about creating memorable dining experiences? Phomolong Lodge is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Waitstaff to join our dynamic team. As a Waitstaff member, you will be the face of our restaurant, responsible for delivering exceptional service that enhances our guests’ stay. Key Responsibilities
- Warmly greeting and seating guests upon arrival, presenting menus, and informing them of daily specials.
- Accurately taking food and beverage orders, using POS systems, and making thoughtful recommendations.
- Serving food and beverages promptly and professionally, ensuring proper presentation and temperature.
- Ensuring tables are set correctly, kept clean, and maintained throughout service, including clearing dishes.
- Handling guest inquiries, special requests, and resolving any issues with grace, efficiency, and professionalism.
- Processing payments accurately, handling cash and card transactions, and providing correct change.
- Collaborating effectively with kitchen staff to ensure timely and correct order delivery and address any discrepancies.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work environment, including dining areas, service stations, and storage.
- Adhering to all health and safety regulations and food hygiene standards.
- Assisting with opening and closing procedures of the restaurant, including cleaning, restocking, and setup.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Strong customer service orientation and a genuine desire to assist guests.
- Ability to work efficiently and calmly in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness and presentation.
- Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift moderate weights.
- Basic math skills for handling orders, calculating bills, and processing payments accurately.
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
- Fluency in English and Sesotho is essential for effective communication with guests and colleagues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 6 months of experience in a waitstaff or customer service role, preferably in a hotel or restaurant setting.
- Knowledge of local and international cuisine, including understanding of dietary restrictions.
- Ability to upsell and suggest menu items confidently, enhancing the guest experience.
- Prior experience with Point of Sale (POS) systems.
- Food handling certification (e.g., HACCP) is a significant advantage.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, as per business needs.
