Job Description

Maanzoni Lodge is seeking a passionate, professional, and service-oriented Waitstaff to join our vibrant Food and Beverage team. As a Waitstaff, you will be the direct link between our culinary excellence and our guests’ dining pleasure, responsible for ensuring every patron receives prompt, courteous, and efficient service. Your primary role will involve warmly greeting guests, expertly presenting menus, taking accurate food and beverage orders, and serving with grace and precision. Beyond the mechanics of service, we expect you to anticipate guest needs, offer informed recommendations, and adapt to diverse preferences, thereby enhancing their overall stay with us. Key Responsibilities

  • Warmly greet guests upon arrival, escort them to tables, and present menus, clearly explaining daily specials and answering all inquiries about food and beverages.
  • Take accurate food and beverage orders, efficiently utilizing our point-of-sale (POS) systems, and relaying special requests to the kitchen.
  • Serve food and beverages promptly and courteously, ensuring correct presentation, temperature, and portion sizes according to Maanzoni Lodge standards.
  • Actively monitor guest satisfaction throughout their meal, respond promptly to requests, and proactively address any issues or complaints with professionalism and a problem-solving attitude.
  • Clear tables efficiently, reset dining areas, and maintain impeccable cleanliness and organization of the dining room and service stations.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with kitchen staff, bartenders, and other service personnel to ensure smooth and efficient service flow during all shifts.
  • Handle cash and card payments accurately, process transactions, issue receipts, and reconcile bills at the end of shifts.
  • Assist with setting up and breaking down for various events, conferences, banquets, and special dining occasions as required.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and hygiene standards, including food handling regulations and lodge policies.
  • Participate actively in training sessions, team meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service quality and operational efficiency.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience of at least 1 year as a Waiter/Waitress in a hotel, lodge, or reputable restaurant setting.
  • Exceptional customer service orientation and strong verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and remain composed in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Basic mathematical proficiency for handling transactions and accurately processing payments.
  • Thorough knowledge of food and beverage service procedures, etiquette, and industry best practices.
  • Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods, and to lift and carry moderate weights (e.g., trays, chairs).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certificate or Diploma in Hospitality Management, Food & Beverage Service, or a closely related field.
  • Familiarity and proficiency with various point-of-sale (POS) systems commonly used in the hospitality industry.
  • Basic knowledge of local and international cuisine, wines, and beverage pairings.
  • Fluency in additional languages beyond English (e.g., Swahili, French, German) is a significant advantage.
