Job Description
We are actively seeking a highly skilled, safety-conscious, and diligent Full-Time Warehouse Forklift Operator to join our robust logistics team at our Chitungwiza distribution center. This is a pivotal role within our supply chain, directly impacting the efficiency and effectiveness of our extensive retail operations. As a Warehouse Forklift Operator, you will be instrumental in the smooth flow of goods, playing a critical role in receiving, storing, and dispatching products with precision and care. You will be responsible for operating various types of forklifts (e.g., counterbalance, reach trucks) to move, stack, and retrieve materials, ensuring that all inventory is handled according to strict safety protocols and company standards. This position requires an individual who is not only proficient in forklift operation but also possesses a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of warehouse organization, and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment for all colleagues. You will work within a fast-paced environment, contributing to the timely delivery of products to our stores, ultimately enhancing our customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts safely and efficiently to load, unload, stack, and move products within the warehouse and storage facilities.
- Inspect forklifts daily, performing routine maintenance checks (e.g., checking fluid levels, tire pressure) and reporting any defects or malfunctions immediately.
- Accurately pick and prepare orders for dispatch, ensuring correct item counts and proper packaging.
- Assist with inventory management, including cycle counts, stock rotation, and maintaining organized storage areas.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Collaborate with warehouse staff and supervisors to ensure efficient workflow and meet daily operational targets.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe working environment.
- Assist with manual loading and unloading of goods when necessary.
- Communicate effectively with team members regarding stock movements and potential issues.
Required Skills
- Valid forklift operator certification/license.
- Minimum of 1 year (12 months) proven experience as a forklift operator in a warehouse or distribution setting.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures and regulations.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting heavy objects, standing for extended periods, and operating machinery.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in handling goods.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic literacy and numeracy for reading labels and completing simple documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating various types of forklifts (e.g., counterbalance, reach trucks, pallet jacks).
- Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or inventory tracking software.
- Previous experience in a retail or FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) distribution environment.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
