Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all daily warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch, ensuring adherence to established procedures and deadlines.
- Implement and maintain robust inventory control systems, conducting regular cycle counts, reconciliations, and investigating discrepancies to ensure high levels of stock accuracy.
- Supervise and coordinate dispatch activities, ensuring timely and accurate order fulfillment, proper loading of vehicles, and correct documentation for all outgoing shipments.
- Lead, motivate, train, and develop a team of warehouse operatives, fostering a positive and productive work environment focused on safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure strict compliance with all health and safety regulations, company policies, and operational procedures, promoting a culture of safety awareness among the team.
- Utilize and optimize the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to track inventory, manage orders, and generate reports, ensuring data integrity and system efficiency.
- Identify areas for process improvement within inventory and dispatch functions, proposing and implementing solutions to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
- Liaise effectively with internal departments, including customer service, procurement, and transport, to ensure smooth communication and coordination of logistics activities.
- Conduct performance reviews for team members, provide constructive feedback, and identify training needs to support individual and team development.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory role within a busy warehouse or distribution environment.
- Proven experience with inventory management, stock control, and cycle counting methodologies.
- Demonstrable experience in managing and supervising dispatch operations, including loading and documentation.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate, train, and develop staff.
- Proficiency in using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.
- Solid understanding of health and safety regulations within a warehouse setting.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- A relevant qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration.
- Valid forklift (Reach/Counterbalance) license.
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
- Familiarity with specific industry regulations or compliance standards relevant to warehousing.
