Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Warehouse Supervisor & Logistics Manager to join our growing team in Muhanga, Southern Province. This critical role is central to the efficiency and effectiveness of our regional supply chain operations. You will be responsible for overseeing all facets of warehouse activities and coordinating logistics functions to ensure optimal flow of goods from receipt to dispatch. The successful candidate will be a proactive, results-oriented leader with a strong commitment to operational excellence, safety, and continuous improvement.

Your primary objective will be to manage the daily operations of our Muhanga warehouse, ensuring inventory accuracy, maintaining high standards of organization, and optimizing storage space. You will also coordinate all inbound and outbound logistics, working closely with various departments to meet delivery schedules and customer demands. This role requires a keen eye for detail, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to lead and develop a dedicated warehouse team. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise all daily warehouse activities, including receiving, inspection, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch of goods.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain efficient warehouse layouts and inventory control systems (e.g., FIFO, LIFO, FEFO) to optimize space utilization and minimize waste or loss.
  • Oversee the safe and proper loading, unloading, and movement of materials, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures and safety protocols.
  • Coordinate closely with procurement, production, and sales teams to forecast demand, plan inventory levels, and ensure timely availability of products.
  • Manage and optimize logistics operations, including transportation planning, route optimization, carrier selection, and freight management to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all relevant safety regulations, company policies, and quality standards within the warehouse environment.
  • Conduct regular physical inventory counts, reconcile discrepancies, and provide accurate reports on stock levels, movements, and inventory turns.
  • Lead, mentor, train, and evaluate warehouse staff, fostering a culture of teamwork, high performance, safety consciousness, and continuous professional development.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, implement lean methodologies, and introduce new technologies to enhance efficiency, reduce operational costs, and improve service levels.
  • Prepare and present regular, comprehensive reports on warehouse performance, key logistics metrics, and inventory status to senior management.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 4 years) in warehouse management and logistics coordination, preferably in a fast-paced distribution or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding and practical application of inventory management principles, warehouse best practices, and supply chain operations.
  • Proficiency in using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and strong command of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Exceptional leadership, team management, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze operational data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to optimize processes.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, high attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken); working knowledge of Kinyarwanda is a significant advantage for effective local communication.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and other standard warehouse equipment safely and efficiently (relevant certification is highly desirable).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Professional certification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management (e.g., CSCP, CPIM), or Warehouse Operations.
  • Experience with implementing lean principles, Six Sigma methodologies, or other continuous improvement frameworks in a warehouse setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage operational budgets, control costs, and achieve financial targets.
  • Previous experience in a similar role within a large-scale manufacturing, agriculture, or distribution company in Rwanda.
