Key Responsibilities
- Assist waste collection drivers on designated routes, ensuring timely and complete service.
- Manually lift and load waste and recycling bins into collection vehicles.
- Operate compaction mechanisms and other vehicle equipment safely and efficiently.
- Walk alongside collection vehicles for extended periods, stopping at designated collection points.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, company policies, and provincial regulations.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of collection equipment and report any malfunctions.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area within the vehicle and at collection sites.
- Interact professionally and courteously with the public and team members.
- Assist with sorting and handling of various waste streams as required.
- Adapt to changing weather conditions and complete duties in a consistent manner.
Required Skills
- Ability to consistently lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and perform strenuous physical tasks.
- Strong understanding and commitment to workplace safety practices.
- Excellent physical stamina and endurance for prolonged standing, walking, and lifting.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Good communication skills.
- Must possess a valid Class 5 (or equivalent) driver's license with a clean abstract.
