The role of a Waste Management Worker is crucial for maintaining environmental hygiene and public health within the Dieppe and Moncton communities. As a Waste Management Worker, you will operate as part of a dedicated team, often working outdoors in various weather conditions. Key Responsibilities
- Collect and load various types of waste materials (residential, commercial, recycling) into collection vehicles.
- Operate compaction controls and other mechanisms on waste collection vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, reporting any defects or issues.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, traffic laws, and company policies.
- Maintain cleanliness of collection vehicles and equipment.
- Interact professionally and courteously with the public and team members.
- Identify and report unauthorized waste or hazards encountered on routes.
- Sort recyclable materials as required, ensuring proper segregation.
- Work effectively as part of a team to complete assigned routes on schedule.
- Endure physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Required Skills
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs consistently).
- Strong commitment to safety procedures and practices.
- Ability to work effectively in varying weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow).
- Valid Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent for New Brunswick) with a clean driving record.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in waste management, general labour, or a similar outdoor physical role.
- Knowledge of Dieppe/Moncton area routes and geography.
- Experience operating heavy equipment or commercial vehicles.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
