Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a highly dedicated and meticulous Water Treatment Operator to join our client’s essential operations in Stuttgart City. This full-time role is crucial for ensuring the continuous supply of safe, high-quality drinking water to the community and maintaining environmental standards. As a Water Treatment Operator, you will be at the forefront of protecting public health, operating sophisticated water purification systems, and safeguarding precious natural resources.

Your daily activities will involve the hands-on operation, monitoring, and maintenance of pumps, valves, filters, chemical feed systems, and other treatment equipment. You will be responsible for conducting regular inspections, collecting samples, and performing routine laboratory tests to assess water quality and adjust treatment processes as needed. This position demands a keen eye for detail, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a profound commitment to safety protocols and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor water treatment plant equipment, including pumps, motors, filters, and chemical feed systems.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests on water samples to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Adjust chemical dosages and treatment processes based on analytical results and operational needs.
  • Conduct regular inspections of plant machinery and processes, identifying and reporting any malfunctions or potential issues.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks and minor repairs on equipment.
  • Maintain accurate logs and records of plant operations, readings, maintenance, and chemical usage.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company policies.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, emergencies, and system failures, including during off-hours if required.
  • Calibrate and maintain analytical instruments and equipment.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Water Treatment Operator or in a similar environmental/utility role.
  • Certification as a Water Treatment Plant Operator or equivalent qualification (e.g., Fachkraft für Wasserversorgungstechnik).
  • Strong understanding of water treatment processes, chemistry, and microbiology.
  • Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ability to perform accurate laboratory tests and interpret results.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Physical fitness to perform manual tasks, lift heavy objects, and work in various weather conditions.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, in German and English.
  • Commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Vocational training or degree in environmental engineering, water technology, or a related field.
  • Experience with SCADA systems and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Familiarity with local and national water quality regulations (e.g., Trinkwasserverordnung).
  • Experience working in a regulated utility environment.
