Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Remote Web Accessibility Testing Specialist to join our dynamic digital team. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in ensuring that JN Bank’s digital platforms – including our website, mobile applications, and internal systems – are fully accessible to all users, regardless of their abilities. You will play a vital part in upholding our commitment to inclusivity, guaranteeing that our online services comply with the latest international web accessibility standards, specifically WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) 2.1 and 2.2.
As a Web Accessibility Testing Specialist, you will conduct comprehensive accessibility audits, perform both manual and automated testing, identify barriers, and provide actionable recommendations for remediation. Your work will directly impact the user experience of thousands of Jamaicans, making financial services more approachable and usable for everyone. This remote position offers the flexibility to work from your home base in Santa Cruz, Saint Elizabeth Parish, Jamaica, while collaborating closely with our design, development, and content teams situated across various locations. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough manual and automated accessibility testing of web and mobile applications against WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA and AAA standards.
- Utilize a variety of assistive technologies (e.g., screen readers like JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver; screen magnifiers) to simulate user experiences.
- Identify, document, and prioritize accessibility defects using appropriate tracking systems, providing clear remediation steps for development teams.
- Collaborate closely with UI/UX designers, developers, and content creators to integrate accessibility best practices throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Provide expert guidance and training to internal teams on web accessibility principles, standards, and testing methodologies.
- Stay current with evolving accessibility guidelines, laws, and technologies (e.g., ADA, AODA, Section 508 best practices, future WCAG versions).
- Develop and maintain accessibility test plans, test cases, and documentation.
- Participate in design reviews and provide feedback to ensure accessibility is considered from the initial stages of product development.
Required Skills
- In-depth knowledge of WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 guidelines (AA and AAA conformance).
- Proficiency in using assistive technologies (e.g., JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver) for testing.
- Experience with accessibility testing tools (e.g., Axe, Lighthouse, WAVE, ANDI).
- Strong understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript as they relate to accessibility.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and provide clear, actionable feedback.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for collaborating with technical and non-technical teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a meticulous attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- IAAP certification (e.g., CPACC, WAS, ADS).
- Experience working in the financial services industry.
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
- Knowledge of mobile accessibility guidelines and testing best practices (iOS and Android).
- Experience with other international accessibility laws and standards beyond WCAG (e.g., ADA, AODA, Section 508).
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
