Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly dedicated and vigilant Weekend Security Officer for Night Patrol duties in Barnton, Edinburgh. This critical role is perfect for an individual who thrives in an independent setting, possesses exceptional observational skills, and is committed to maintaining safety and security during the overnight hours. As a core member of our security team, you will be responsible for safeguarding premises, assets, and personnel, ensuring a secure and undisturbed environment throughout your shifts. Working Friday and Saturday nights, you will perform regular patrols, monitor CCTV systems, and respond promptly to alarms or disturbances. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular foot and vehicle patrols of designated areas during weekend night shifts to prevent and detect signs of intrusion.
  • Monitor surveillance cameras and alarm systems, responding promptly and appropriately to any alerts or suspicious activities.
  • Control access points, verify credentials of visitors, and ensure only authorized personnel enter the premises.
  • Document all incidents, observations, and activities in clear, concise, and timely reports.
  • Respond to emergencies such as medical incidents, fires, or security breaches, following established protocols.
  • Enforce company policies and procedures to maintain a safe and secure environment.
  • Communicate effectively with internal staff, clients, and emergency services as required.
  • Undertake lock-ups and unlocks of premises as per schedule.
  • Identify and report any maintenance issues, hazards, or security risks found during patrols.

Required Skills

  • SIA Door Supervisor or Security Guarding license (valid and current)
  • Excellent observational and patrolling skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Ability to operate CCTV and alarm monitoring systems
  • Proficiency in incident reporting and record-keeping
  • Capacity to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure
  • Basic first aid knowledge
  • A clean UK driving license (desirable for certain sites)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a night patrol or lone working security role
  • Experience with advanced security technology and access control systems
  • Advanced First Aid certification
  • Conflict resolution and de-escalation training
