Prestige Metal & Steel Works is seeking a dedicated and experienced Welder to join our dynamic team in La Caverne, Vacoas-Phoenix. In this critical role, you will be responsible for executing high-quality welding and fabrication tasks on various metal projects, ranging from intricate components to large-scale structural elements. Key Responsibilities
- Perform welding and fabrication using various techniques including MIG, TIG, and ARC welding on different metal types, primarily steel, ensuring high-quality, durable, and precise results.
- Interpret and work accurately from engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine layout, sequence of operations, and required materials.
- Cut, grind, and shape metal components using appropriate tools and machinery, ensuring conformity to design specifications.
- Inspect welded surfaces and structures meticulously to discover flaws, ensure adherence to quality standards, and perform necessary corrections.
- Operate and maintain welding equipment and machinery in a safe and efficient manner, conducting routine checks and minor troubleshooting.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and health regulations, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Collaborate effectively with the fabrication team, project managers, and other departments to ensure project timelines, quality objectives, and budgetary requirements are consistently met.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment and identify needs for repair or replacement to ensure continuous operational efficiency.
- Contribute actively to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment, promoting a culture of teamwork and accountability.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise and certification in MIG, TIG, and ARC welding processes with demonstrated ability to produce high-quality welds.
- Exceptional ability to read and accurately interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols to execute complex designs.
- Proficiency in using power and hand tools common to the welding and fabrication trade (e.g., angle grinders, cutting torches, drills, measuring tools).
- Strong understanding of metal properties and their behavior under heat, allowing for optimal material handling and welding techniques.
- Excellent manual dexterity, precision, and spatial reasoning skills, essential for intricate fabrication work.
- Solid understanding of safety procedures and protocols in a heavy industrial workshop environment.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and work in various positions as required by the job.
Preferred Qualifications
- Vocational training or certification in Welding Technology or a related trade from a recognized institution.
- Specific experience with structural steel fabrication and assembly of large-scale components.
- Experience with other metal forming techniques such as bending, rolling, and shearing.
- Familiarity with quality control procedures and basic non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.
- Valid driver's license to assist with material handling or site visits if necessary.
