Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Welder Fabricator to join our dynamic team on a contract basis for an exciting industrial project located in Nyagatare, Eastern Province, Rwanda. This is a critical role responsible for executing precision welding and fabrication tasks essential to the structural integrity and functional requirements of our industrial facility. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in various welding techniques, a strong understanding of material properties, and an unwavering commitment to safety and quality.

As a Welder Fabricator, you will be instrumental in transforming raw materials into finished structural components and equipment, working from detailed blueprints and engineering specifications. Your day-to-day will involve interpreting technical drawings, precisely cutting and shaping metal, assembling complex structures, and performing high-quality welds using appropriate methods such as ARC, MIG, or TIG welding. This role demands a keen eye for detail, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work efficiently both independently and as part of a larger construction team.

You will be expected to maintain all welding and fabrication equipment, troubleshoot minor issues, and ensure your workspace adheres strictly to our rigorous safety protocols. Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret engineering blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols to determine appropriate welding processes and materials.
  • Cut, shape, and form metal components using a variety of tools and equipment, including plasma cutters, grinders, and presses.
  • Perform high-quality welding using various techniques (e.g., ARC, MIG, TIG) on different types of metals (e.g., carbon steel, stainless steel) according to project specifications and industry standards.
  • Fabricate and assemble complex structural components, piping systems, and mechanical parts for industrial installations.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of welded joints and fabricated components to ensure structural integrity, dimensional accuracy, and compliance with quality standards.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot welding equipment, ensuring all tools are in safe and optimal working condition.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and relevant industry regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with engineers, project managers, and other team members to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Assist in material handling and site organization as required.

Required Skills

  • Proven expertise in ARC, MIG, and TIG welding processes.
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency in operating fabrication tools and machinery (e.g., grinders, drills, plasma cutters, press brakes).
  • Strong knowledge of various metal properties and appropriate welding techniques for different materials.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, precise work.
  • Solid understanding of safety protocols and best practices in welding and fabrication.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot on-site challenges.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity required for demanding manual tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Vocational training or technical certification in Welding and Fabrication.
  • Specific experience in industrial plant construction, heavy machinery fabrication, or infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods for weld inspection.
  • Ability to operate forklifts or other material handling equipment (certification a plus).
  • Experience working in diverse and multicultural project environments.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
