Key Responsibilities
- Perform various welding processes, including MIG, TIG, and Stick welding, on a range of materials such as mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium, according to project specifications.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols to determine appropriate welding techniques and ensure accurate fabrication.
- Operate and maintain welding equipment, power tools (grinders, cut-off saws), and other fabrication machinery safely and efficiently.
- Inspect finished welds for defects, ensuring structural integrity, aesthetic quality, and adherence to industry standards and quality control procedures.
- Prepare materials for welding by cutting, grinding, cleaning, and positioning components accurately.
- Contribute to general industrial tasks, including material handling, assembly, quality checks, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety regulations, procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve minor welding equipment issues and perform routine maintenance.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to meet production targets and project deadlines.
- Document work performed, including material usage and time spent on tasks, as required.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), and Stick (SMAW) welding techniques.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols.
- Demonstrable experience with various metal fabrication tools and machinery.
- Solid understanding of metal properties and appropriate welding parameters.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Strong adherence to safety protocols and practices in an industrial setting.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a demanding environment.

Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant trade test certificate or equivalent qualification in Welding or Metal Fabrication.
- Certification in specific welding procedures (e.g., ASME, AWS, ISO).
- Experience with CNC plasma cutting or other automated fabrication equipment.
- Familiarity with quality control processes and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.
- Prior experience working in a precision engineering or structural steel fabrication environment.
- Forklift operator certification.
