Career.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Welding Technician with a strong background in metal work to join our client’s growing operations in Lamu County, Kenya. This is a crucial role for a professional who thrives on precision, quality, and contributing to the structural integrity of diverse projects. As a Welding Technician, you will be at the heart of our fabrication processes, utilizing your expertise in various welding techniques to construct, repair, and maintain metal structures and components.

Your day-to-day will involve interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to determine the appropriate welding processes and materials. You will be responsible for preparing materials, setting up welding equipment, and executing flawless welds using techniques such as MIG, TIG, Stick (SMAW), and Flux-Cored (FCAW) on a variety of metals including steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. We are looking for someone who not only has exceptional manual dexterity and an eye for detail but also possesses a deep understanding of metallurgy and its application in different welding scenarios.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to plan welding operations.
  • Perform various welding processes including MIG, TIG, SMAW (Stick), and FCAW on diverse materials such as steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
  • Prepare materials for welding by cleaning, grinding, and cutting as required.
  • Set up and operate welding equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
  • Inspect welds for quality, strength, and structural integrity, making necessary repairs.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting of welding equipment.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other technicians to resolve fabrication challenges.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and SMAW welding techniques.
