You will perform essential routine preventative maintenance, thorough inspections, and critical corrective repairs on complex wind turbine generators and all associated balance of plant equipment. Your work will involve detailed diagnosis and precise troubleshooting of intricate mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance, inspections, and servicing on wind turbine generators and associated balance of plant equipment.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems to ensure optimal turbine performance and minimize downtime.
  • Execute major component exchanges, including but not limited to gearboxes, generators, and blades, utilizing specialized lifting equipment and precise procedures.
  • Accurately complete all required documentation, including maintenance logs, service reports, safety checklists, and inventory records, in a timely manner.
  • Strictly adhere to all company safety regulations, operational policies, and environmental guidelines, including LOTO (Lock-Out, Tag-Out) procedures.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation schedule to respond promptly to emergency repairs and urgent operational needs, ensuring continuous power generation.
  • Utilize SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems for remote monitoring of turbine performance, identifying anomalies, and pre-empting potential issues.
  • Work safely at heights and in confined spaces, employing appropriate fall protection, rescue equipment, and safety harnesses.
  • Collaborate effectively with fellow technicians, site managers, engineering teams, and external contractors to foster a cohesive and productive work environment.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of proven experience as a Wind Turbine Technician or in a closely related industrial mechanical/electrical maintenance role.
  • Robust understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic principles as they apply to heavy industrial machinery.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to use various diagnostic tools, specialized testing equipment, and hand/power tools safely and effectively.
  • Unwavering commitment to safety protocols, including working at heights, confined space entry, and electrical safety.
  • Physical capability to climb wind turbine towers (up to 100 meters), lift heavy equipment, and work in diverse weather conditions.
  • Valid Class 5 (or equivalent) driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting abilities under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical degree, diploma, or certification in Wind Energy Technology, Industrial Mechanics, Electrical Technology, or a related field.
  • Advanced certifications in rope access, tower climbing, or rescue techniques.
  • Prior experience with major wind turbine manufacturer platforms (e.g., Siemens Gamesa, Vestas, GE, Nordex, Enercon).
  • Familiarity with computer-based maintenance management systems (CMMS) and SCADA systems.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French is highly advantageous for communication within the team and with local stakeholders.
