As a Wind Turbine Maintenance Technician, you will be performing scheduled preventative maintenance, troubleshooting complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, and executing repairs to minimize downtime. Key Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled maintenance tasks, inspections, and troubleshooting on wind turbine mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs or replacements of components at height and within the nacelle.
- Conduct daily, weekly, monthly, and annual preventative maintenance checks to ensure optimal turbine performance.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, industry regulations, and company guidelines, including working at heights and in confined spaces.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, parts used, and work performed using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Participate in root cause analysis for recurring faults and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with major component exchanges and retrofits as required.
- Communicate effectively with site management, control room operators, and team members regarding turbine status and work progress.
- Perform administrative tasks related to job completion, including time tracking and expense reporting.
Required Skills
- Trade qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in wind turbine maintenance or a related heavy industry field.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Proficiency in reading schematics and technical diagrams.
- Current GWO (Global Wind Organisation) certifications (Working at Heights, First Aid, Manual Handling, Fire Awareness, Sea Survival – if applicable).
- Valid Australian Driver's License.
- Ability to work effectively in challenging environments and at heights.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to strict procedures.
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- High Voltage (HV) switching authorization.
- Experience with specific turbine OEM platforms (e.g., Vestas, Siemens Gamesa, GE).
- Forklift and EWP (Elevated Work Platform) licenses.
- Confined Space entry certification.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Advanced technical diploma or associate’s degree in a relevant field.
