Job Description
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Work from Home Newsroom Coordinator to join our dedicated team, based remotely within Cardiff, Wales. This pivotal role will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our fast-paced newsroom, even as we operate fully distributed. As a Newsroom Coordinator, you will be the central hub, facilitating communication and streamlining workflows for our editorial staff, reporters, and content producers working across various locations. You will play a critical part in managing the lifecycle of news content, from assignment to publication, and will be responsible for keeping our remote team connected and aligned with our editorial objectives. Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily newsroom schedules, assignments, and deadlines for a distributed team, ensuring optimal coverage and resource allocation.
- Manage the end-to-end content flow, from initial story idea to final publication, across our digital platforms and print titles.
- Act as the primary point of contact for editorial staff, freelance contributors, and inter-departmental communications, ensuring clarity and efficiency.
- Organize, maintain, and update digital asset libraries, archives, and content management systems (CMS).
- Facilitate and schedule virtual meetings, training sessions, and collaborative workshops for remote teams, providing necessary technical support.
- Assist editors and reporters with administrative tasks, research, and data gathering to support news production.
- Monitor breaking news feeds, social media, and local developments to identify relevant stories and alert the editorial team.
- Support the integration of multimedia elements (photos, videos, graphics) into news stories.
- Ensure all published content adheres to Media Wales's editorial guidelines, ethical standards, and legal compliance requirements.
- Troubleshoot basic technical issues related to remote working tools and software, escalating complex problems to IT.
- Prepare regular reports on content performance, workflow efficiency, and team productivity.
Required Skills
- Proven exceptional organizational and time management abilities, with a strong capacity for multitasking.
- Superior communication skills, both written and verbal, crucial for remote team coordination.
