Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and supervision to young people within a residential setting, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Act as a consistent and positive role model, demonstrating appropriate behaviour, communication, and emotional regulation.
- Support young people in developing independent living skills, including cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene, and money management.
- Assist with educational support, homework, and facilitate access to learning resources and opportunities.
- Organize and facilitate engaging recreational, social, and developmental activities both within the residence and in the community.
- Observe, assess, and accurately report on the emotional, physical, and behavioural well-being of young people.
- Implement individualized care plans and behavioural support strategies under the guidance of senior staff.
- Maintain clear, accurate, and confidential daily records, progress notes, and incident reports.
- Ensure the safety, security, and cleanliness of the residential environment at all times, adhering to all protocols.
- Build positive, trusting, and professional relationships with young people, their families (where appropriate), and external professionals.
- Participate actively in team meetings, supervision sessions, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
- Adhere strictly to all safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring the protection of vulnerable young people.
Required Skills
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) to connect with young people and colleagues.
- High level of empathy, patience, and compassion towards young people facing various challenges.
- Ability to remain calm, composed, and effective in demanding or challenging situations.
- Strong observational and accurate reporting skills for documenting incidents and progress.
- A basic understanding of child development, attachment, and safeguarding principles.

- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as per a rota.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous volunteer or paid work experience with children or young people (e.g., coaching, mentoring, youth groups, childcare).
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics at grade C/4 or above.
- A relevant Level 2/3 qualification in Health and Social Care, Childcare, or Youth Work (or willingness to undertake upon employment).
- Valid First Aid certification.
- Full UK driving license with access to a vehicle.
