Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of youth mentors, ensuring high performance and professional development.
  • Oversee daily program operations and ensure adherence to best practices, organizational policies, and safeguarding guidelines.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate engaging mentorship activities and workshops tailored to diverse youth needs.
  • Provide direct mentorship and support to youth participants, fostering their personal growth, resilience, and skill development.
  • Conduct regular team meetings, training sessions, and performance reviews for mentors.
  • Manage program resources, including materials and allocated budgets, effectively and responsibly.
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness through data collection and feedback, making data-driven improvements.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for parents, guardians, community partners, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all participants and staff.
  • Address conflicts and behavioral issues among youth or mentors with sensitivity, professionalism, and appropriate intervention.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in youth work, social services, or a related field (minimum 3 years).
  • Demonstrable leadership and supervisory experience, ideally within a youth-focused setting.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, capable of engaging diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and program management abilities.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and build genuine rapport with young people and staff.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar productivity software.
  • Possession of an Enhanced DBS check, or willingness to obtain one prior to employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A degree in Youth Work, Social Work, Education, Psychology, or a closely related field.
  • Experience with curriculum development and workshop facilitation for youth programs.
  • Certification in First Aid and/or Mental Health First Aid.
  • Familiarity with the Bristol youth community and local support resources.
