Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, train, and provide ongoing support to a team of youth mentors, fostering their professional growth and effectiveness.
- Oversee the implementation and evaluation of mentoring programs, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and best practices.
- Develop and deliver workshops and training sessions for mentors on topics such as communication, conflict resolution, and youth development strategies.
- Conduct regular one-on-one supervision meetings and performance reviews with mentors.
- Act as a point of contact for complex cases, providing guidance and intervention as needed.
- Collaborate with community partners, schools, and families to enhance program reach and impact.
- Maintain accurate records of program activities, mentor progress, and youth engagement.
- Contribute to the strategic planning and continuous improvement of mentoring initiatives.
- Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in youth work, mentoring, or a related field (minimum 4 years).
- Demonstrable leadership and supervisory experience, preferably within a mentoring or educational setting.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong understanding of child protection and safeguarding principles.
- Ability to inspire, motivate, and develop a team of diverse individuals.
- Exceptional organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage flexible hours effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with database management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Youth Work, Social Work, Education, Psychology, or a related discipline.
- Accredited qualification in mentoring, coaching, or leadership.
- Experience working with young people from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds in London.
- Knowledge of local community resources and youth support networks in Ilford.
