Job Description
Little London High School is seeking a dynamic, passionate, and highly committed Youth Program Facilitator to lead and support our various extra-curricular and developmental programs. This challenging yet rewarding role demands an individual who is prepared to commit to long hours, often extending beyond the typical school day, including evenings and some weekends, to ensure the successful delivery and impact of our youth initiatives. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and overseeing programs focused on leadership development, academic support, life skills training, cultural enrichment, and community engagement for students aged 12-18. You will work closely with students, staff, and community partners to create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment where every young person feels valued, supported, and inspired to achieve their full potential. Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and execute a diverse range of youth programs and activities, often requiring a flexible schedule and long hours.
- Provide direct supervision, mentorship, and guidance to students, fostering a positive and supportive group dynamic.
- Develop and implement engaging curriculum and workshop materials on topics such as leadership, life skills, academic success, and career exploration.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and community stakeholders to identify student needs and tailor programs accordingly.
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, collecting feedback and reporting on outcomes to ensure continuous improvement.
- Manage program logistics, including scheduling, resource allocation, and budget adherence.
- Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all participants, adhering to school policies and child protection guidelines.
- Act as a positive role model, inspiring students to develop their talents and pursue their aspirations, and intervening appropriately in challenging situations.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 2 years) in youth program development and facilitation, especially with adolescents.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with diverse youth populations and stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities, capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously under pressure.
- Demonstrated leadership and team-building capabilities, inspiring and motivating others.
- Ability to work flexible and long hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by dynamic program schedules.
- Proficiency in conflict resolution, de-escalation techniques, and crisis management within a youth setting.
- A deep understanding of adolescent development, trauma-informed practices, and effective engagement strategies.
- A genuine passion for youth empowerment and community development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Youth Development, Psychology, or a related field.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience working in a school or community-based setting in Jamaica, particularly in rural or inner-city contexts.
- Proficiency in local cultural nuances and community dynamics specific to Westmoreland.
- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle (if program requires off-site activities).
