Job Description

St. Catherine High School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Part-Time Youth Sports Trainer Aide to support our community-focused sports programs in Horizon Park, Spanish Town. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Head Coaches and program staff with the planning and execution of daily sports activities and training sessions.
  • Supervise youth participants during practices, games, and other program events, ensuring their safety and adherence to rules.
  • Set up, dismantle, and store sports equipment efficiently and safely before and after sessions.
  • Demonstrate proper techniques and drills to participants, providing positive encouragement and constructive feedback.
  • Monitor participant health and well-being, administering basic first aid as needed and reporting any incidents to supervisors.
  • Engage actively with children and adolescents, acting as a positive role model and fostering a fun, inclusive, and respectful environment.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and community members regarding program schedules and participant progress.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of sports facilities and equipment.
  • Support administrative tasks as required, including attendance tracking and basic record-keeping.
  • Adhere to all school and program policies, safety guidelines, and child protection protocols.

Required Skills

  • Proven passion for youth sports and physical activity.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially with children and adolescents.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Basic knowledge of sports rules and training principles.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks associated with sports training (e.g., lifting equipment, demonstrating drills).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with children or youth in a sports, coaching, or recreational setting.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Knowledge of specific sports popular in Jamaica (e.g., football, track and field, netball, basketball).
  • Pursuing or holding a degree/diploma in Physical Education, Sports Management, or a related field.
  • Experience in conflict resolution and group management for youth.
