Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and energetic Stage Backdrop Helper to join our events team in Moatize, Tete Province. This full-time, on-site role is crucial to the seamless execution of various events, from corporate functions and community gatherings to theatrical productions and concerts. As a Stage Backdrop Helper, you will be an integral part of our production crew, responsible for the safe and efficient setup, maintenance, and teardown of stage backdrops, props, and other scenic elements. This is a hands-on position that requires physical stamina, a keen eye for detail, and a strong commitment to teamwork and safety. You will work closely with stage managers, technicians, and other crew members to ensure all stage elements are precisely placed, secured, and ready for performances or presentations. We are looking for an individual who is reliable, adaptable, and eager to contribute to creating impactful visual experiences for our audiences. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the loading, unloading, and transportation of stage backdrops, props, and equipment to and from event venues.
  • Safely set up and dismantle stage backdrops, rigging, and other scenic elements according to production designs and instructions.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on backdrops and stage equipment to ensure their longevity and functional integrity.
  • Operate basic hand and power tools safely and efficiently for assembly and installation tasks.
  • Support the stage management team in organizing and storing stage materials, maintaining a tidy and secure backstage area.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols and venue regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for all crew members.
  • Work collaboratively with the broader production team, including lighting, sound, and visual technicians, to achieve unified event goals.
  • Be responsive to on-site changes and adapt quickly to unexpected challenges, maintaining a positive and proactive attitude.
  • Conduct pre-event checks to ensure all backdrops and stage elements are clean, in good condition, and positioned correctly.

Required Skills

  • Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 25 kg) and stand for extended periods.
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and their safe operation.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Reliability and punctuality, with a strong work ethic.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality in all tasks.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by event schedules.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English and/or Portuguese.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in event production, stagehand work, or a similar physically demanding role.
  • Familiarity with theatrical rigging systems and stage safety practices.
  • A valid Mozambican driver's license (Category B or higher).
  • Basic understanding of carpentry or set construction.
