Job Description

Acacia Premier Hotel Kisumu is seeking a dedicated and skilled Groundskeeper to enhance our vibrant team. Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive lawn care duties, including precise mowing, careful trimming, crisp edging, and strategic fertilization to maintain lush, healthy turf.
- Cultivate and maintain all flower beds, shrubberies, and trees, involving systematic planting, expert pruning, diligent weeding, and appropriate mulching.
- Operate and conduct routine maintenance on a variety of landscaping equipment, such as commercial mowers, leaf blowers, string trimmers, and essential hand tools.
- Monitor and manage the hotel's irrigation systems, ensuring optimal watering schedules and efficient water usage for all landscape areas.
- Proactively identify and effectively address plant diseases, pest infestations, and other horticultural issues to maintain overall landscape health.
- Ensure all outdoor areas, pathways, and parking zones are consistently clean, free of litter, debris, and fallen leaves.
- Assist with minor repairs and preventative maintenance of outdoor structures, decorative pathways, and water features.
- Ensure all tools and equipment are properly stored, meticulously cleaned, and well-maintained, adhering strictly to safety protocols.
- Adhere to all hotel safety guidelines, environmental regulations, and best practices for groundskeeping.
- Support other outdoor maintenance and landscaping tasks as required by the management team.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 2 years) in groundskeeping, landscaping, or a related outdoor maintenance role.
- Proficiency in safely operating and performing basic maintenance on various landscaping equipment.
- Strong foundational knowledge of plant care, basic horticulture, and turf management principles.
- Excellent physical stamina and the ability to perform demanding outdoor work in diverse weather conditions.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a steadfast commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to work effectively both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as a valued team member.
- Basic understanding of irrigation system functionality and troubleshooting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate or diploma in Horticulture, Landscaping, Agriculture, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated experience with pest and disease control applications in an outdoor, commercial setting.
- Knowledge of local plant species suitable for the Kisumu climate and soil conditions.
- A valid Kenyan driving license (classes BCE) for potential equipment transport.
