Key Responsibilities
- Drafting, proofreading, and formatting legal documents, correspondence, and reports.
- Organizing and maintaining physical and electronic legal files, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
- Conducting preliminary legal research using various online and offline resources.
- Scheduling appointments, meetings, and court dates; managing calendars for legal professionals.
- Assisting with client intake processes, including gathering necessary information and documentation.
- Preparing trial binders, exhibits, and other materials for hearings, depositions, and trials.
- Liaising with clients, courts, and other external parties in a professional and courteous manner.
- Processing and tracking invoices, expenses, and other financial documentation related to legal cases.
- Maintaining confidentiality of all legal and client-related information.
- Supporting legal professionals with administrative tasks as needed to ensure smooth operations.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 1 year) in an administrative or legal support role.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Portuguese.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of integrity and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a proactive work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- A diploma or certificate in Paralegal Studies or a related field.
- Experience with legal research databases (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw, or local equivalents).
