Job Description
Are you a highly skilled CNC Machinist looking for an opportunity to apply your expertise remotely, with the flexibility to manage your own schedule? National Foods Holdings Limited is seeking an experienced and self-driven Remote CNC Machinist to join our dynamic engineering and maintenance team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in supporting our extensive operational infrastructure by programming, simulating, and optimizing CNC machine processes from your remote workspace. While this position is primarily remote, it requires a deep understanding of practical machining principles and the ability to collaborate effectively with on-site technicians and engineers. You will be responsible for designing and refining precision components, troubleshooting machining issues virtually, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency in our part fabrication processes. This role offers the unique advantage of contributing to a major industrial player in Zimbabwe without the constraints of a daily commute, allowing for a work-life balance while still engaging in challenging and impactful projects. We are looking for someone who thrives on precision, innovation, and can translate complex designs into executable machine code, ensuring seamless production and maintenance support across our facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, write, and optimize CNC programs (G-code, M-code) for various machining operations (milling, turning, grinding) using CAD/CAM software.
- Simulate machining processes to verify program accuracy, detect potential collisions, and ensure optimal tool paths before actual production.
- Collaborate with on-site engineering and maintenance teams to understand part specifications, material requirements, and operational constraints.
- Provide remote technical support and guidance to local CNC operators and technicians, assisting with machine setup, troubleshooting, and process adjustments.
- Interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to produce precise and accurate components.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, feeds, and speeds based on material properties and machining requirements.
- Conduct virtual quality checks and analyses of machined parts, recommending adjustments to programs or processes as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation of programs, setup sheets, and revision histories.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in CNC technology, software, and machining techniques.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for machining processes and component design.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Mastercam, AutoCAD)
- Expert-level knowledge of G-code and M-code programming
- Strong understanding of various CNC machine types (lathes, mills, multi-axis machines)
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and blueprints
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities, especially in a remote setting
- Knowledge of different materials and their machining properties (metals, plastics)
- Attention to detail and a commitment to precision
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
- Relevant industry certifications in CNC programming or machining
- Experience with specific CAM software used in heavy industrial or food processing environments
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles
- Prior experience working in a remote or hybrid role
- Experience with advanced tooling and fixturing concepts
- Project management skills for overseeing component fabrication lifecycles
Perks & Benefits
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience
- Flexible working hours and the freedom of a remote work model
- Opportunity to contribute to one of Zimbabwe's leading industrial companies
- Access to modern CAD/CAM software and simulation tools
- Professional development and continuous learning opportunities
- A supportive and collaborative team environment, even remotely
