Career.zycto is seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and experienced Caregiver to join our esteemed team in Oniru, Victoria Island. Key Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and personal hygiene, maintaining their dignity and privacy.
- Provide medication reminders and assist with basic health monitoring (e.g., checking vital signs, blood sugar levels) as directed by healthcare professionals and in adherence to care plans.
- Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks, adhering strictly to dietary restrictions, allergies, and client preferences.
- Perform light housekeeping duties such as laundry, tidying common areas, and ensuring a clean, organized, and safe living environment for the client.
- Provide companionship and emotional support, engaging clients in conversations, hobbies, recreational activities, and mental stimulation exercises.
- Accompany clients to appointments, errands, social outings, and family gatherings, ensuring their safety, comfort, and timely arrival.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of client care, observations, daily activities, and any changes in health or behavior, reporting concerns promptly to supervisors.
- Assist with mobility and transfers, utilizing proper techniques and adaptive equipment (e.g., walkers, wheelchairs) to prevent injury to both client and caregiver.
- Support clients in maintaining their independence and personal choices while respecting their privacy and promoting a sense of autonomy.
- Communicate effectively and empathetically with clients, their families, and other members of the care team to ensure seamless and holistic care.
Required Skills
- Proven experience of at least 6 months as a caregiver, home health aide, or in a similar client-facing support role.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills with a compassionate demeanor.
- Demonstrable patience, empathy, and a strong understanding of the needs of individuals requiring care.
- Proficient in performing light housekeeping duties and preparing balanced meals according to specific dietary needs.
- Strong observational skills and meticulous attention to detail to identify changes in client condition or needs.
- High level of reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility.
- Ability to work independently, manage daily tasks effectively, and adapt to varying client requirements.
- Basic understanding of health and safety protocols, including hygiene and emergency procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in caregiving, nursing assistant (CNA), first aid, or CPR is a significant advantage.
- Experience working specifically with elderly clients or individuals with specific health conditions such as dementia, Alzheimer's, or mobility impairments.
- Familiarity with various mobility aids and adaptive equipment, and techniques for safe transfers.
- Ability to speak multiple local languages prevalent in Lagos (e.g., Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa) to enhance client communication.
