Job Description
We are seeking a passionate, highly skilled, and client-focused Fitness Trainer & Personal Coach to join our esteemed team at Virunga Hotel, a landmark establishment in Musanze. This pivotal role involves designing and delivering personalized fitness programs and coaching services to our diverse clientele, including hotel guests and potential local members who utilize our wellness facilities. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in promoting a culture of wellness, health, and active living within our establishment, significantly enhancing our guest experience and reputation as a comprehensive hospitality provider.
As our Fitness Trainer & Personal Coach, you will be responsible for conducting thorough fitness assessments, understanding individual health histories, and identifying specific client goals, whether they aim for weight loss, strength building, improved endurance, rehabilitation support, or general wellness. Based on these assessments, you will develop safe, effective, and engaging exercise routines tailored precisely to individual needs and capabilities. Your expertise will extend beyond mere instruction; you will provide continuous motivation, proper form correction, and progressive program adjustments to ensure clients achieve optimal results safely and efficiently while preventing injuries.
Moreover, this role requires a comprehensive understanding of nutrition principles and lifestyle coaching. You will be expected to offer expert guidance on dietary choices, hydration, rest, and holistic wellness practices that complement physical training, empowering clients to make sustainable changes for long-term health benefits. Your exceptional understanding of exercise physiology, anatomy, biomechanics, and various training methodologies (e.g., HIIT, strength training, functional fitness, flexibility, Pilates, yoga) will be critical to your success.
Beyond the technical aspects, excellent communication and interpersonal skills are paramount. You will build strong, trusting relationships with clients, fostering an encouraging, positive, and professional training environment where individuals feel supported, motivated, and empowered to surpass their own expectations. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive fitness assessments and health screenings for clients.
- Design and implement individualized, safe, and effective exercise programs.
- Provide one-on-one and small group personal training sessions.
- Educate clients on proper exercise techniques, injury prevention, and equipment use.
- Offer expert guidance on nutrition, hydration, and healthy lifestyle choices.
- Motivate and support clients in achieving their fitness and wellness goals.
- Monitor client progress, modify programs as needed, and track results.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe fitness environment.
- Stay updated with industry trends, research, and best practices in fitness and wellness.
- Maintain accurate records of client sessions and progress.
- Adhere to all hotel policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
Required Skills
- Certified Personal Trainer (e.g., ACE, NASM, ISSA, ACSM or equivalent national certification)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in personal training or group fitness instruction
- Strong knowledge of exercise physiology, anatomy, and biomechanics
- Ability to design progressive and adaptive workout programs
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills
- First Aid and CPR/AED certification
- Client assessment and program development expertise
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field
- Additional certifications (e.g., Nutrition Specialist, Yoga Instructor, Pilates, Strength & Conditioning)
- Experience working in a hotel, resort, or spa environment
- Proficiency in Kinyarwanda is a plus, English required
