Job Description
Career.zycto is actively seeking a dedicated and professional Corporate Security Officer to join our team in the vibrant New Town area of Edinburgh. This full-time, on-site role is critical to maintaining a secure and safe environment for our employees, visitors, and assets. As a Corporate Security Officer, you will be the frontline defender of our premises, embodying vigilance and professionalism in all your duties. You’ll play a vital role in preventing security breaches, responding to incidents, and ensuring adherence to all safety protocols. We are looking for an individual with a keen eye for detail, exceptional judgment, and a proactive approach to security challenges. Your daily activities will range from monitoring surveillance systems and conducting regular patrols to managing access control and acting as a first responder to emergencies. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols of the premises, both internal and external, to prevent and detect signs of intrusion, damage, or unauthorized presence.
- Monitor and operate CCTV surveillance systems and other security equipment to identify and report any suspicious activities or potential threats.
- Control access to the building; verify identification of employees and visitors, issue passes, and maintain accurate visitor logs.
- Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, emergencies, and security incidents, including fire, medical emergencies, and unauthorized access.
- Prepare detailed and accurate incident reports, daily activity logs, and other documentation as required.
- Enforce company security policies and procedures, ensuring compliance by all personnel and visitors.
- Liaise with emergency services (police, fire, ambulance) when necessary and assist in their operations.
- Conduct initial investigations into security breaches, theft, or other incidents as directed.
- Provide excellent customer service, assisting employees and visitors with security-related inquiries and directions.
- Identify potential security risks and recommend improvements to existing security measures.
Required Skills
- Valid SIA (Security Industry Authority) License (Door Supervisor or Security Guarding)
- Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in corporate security, policing, or military service.
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in operating CCTV and alarm systems.
- Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Sound knowledge of health and safety procedures and emergency protocols.
- Basic first aid certification or willingness to obtain.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced First Aid / Emergency First Response qualification.
- Experience with access control systems and visitor management software.
- Knowledge of relevant UK security legislation and best practices.
- Previous experience in a corporate or high-profile commercial environment.
- IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite.
