Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all phases of building construction projects from initiation to closeout, ensuring project delivery on time, within budget, and to specified quality standards.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including detailed schedules, resource allocation, and budget forecasts.
- Oversee and coordinate all on-site construction activities, managing project teams, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Ensure strict adherence to all local building codes, safety regulations, and quality control procedures.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Manage project finances, including cost tracking, invoice approvals, and budget reporting.
- Communicate effectively with clients, architects, engineers, local authorities, and other stakeholders, providing regular updates and resolving conflicts.
- Proactively identify and mitigate project risks, developing contingency plans to prevent delays or cost overruns.
- Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation, including daily logs, progress reports, and closeout reports.
- Foster a collaborative and safe working environment, promoting teamwork and professional development among staff.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in managing building construction projects, ideally in Kenya.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and best practices.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering blueprints and specifications.
- Expertise in budget management, cost control, and financial reporting for projects.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills under pressure.
- Familiarity with local building regulations and permit processes in Kilifi County, Kenya.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
