Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and experienced Lighting Technician to join our network of premier event production teams in Belfast, Northern Ireland. This full-time role offers an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse range of live events, including concerts, corporate functions, theatrical productions, and festivals. You will be instrumental in designing, setting up, operating, and dismantling lighting systems that captivate audiences and enhance the overall event experience. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and program lighting plots using industry-standard software (e.g., Avolites, grandMA, ETC Eos) for various events.
  • Set up, install, rig, focus, and test a wide array of lighting fixtures, control systems, and associated equipment.
  • Operate lighting consoles and dimmers during live events, ensuring seamless transitions, flawless execution of cues, and creative visual effects.
  • Proactively troubleshoot and swiftly resolve any technical issues with lighting equipment during pre-production, setup, and live performances.
  • Conduct thorough pre-show checks and post-show maintenance on all lighting gear, including cleaning, repair, and inventory management.
  • Collaborate effectively and communicate clearly with production managers, stage managers, audio engineers, and other crew members to achieve unified production goals.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, including safe working practices at heights (e.g., using ladders, scaffolding, genie lifts) and proper manual handling techniques.
  • Manage equipment inventory, ensuring accurate tracking, proper storage, and safe transport to and from event venues.
  • Assist with other stage production tasks, including sound setup, video projection, and general stage management duties as required to support event success.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 2 years) as a Lighting Technician in a live events or theatrical setting.
  • Proficiency with DMX, Art-Net, and other common lighting protocols and networking.
  • Strong understanding of conventional and intelligent lighting fixtures (e.g., LED wash, moving head spots/beams, conventional profiles, fresnels).
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret lighting plots, technical riders, and architectural drawings.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to maintain composure and work efficiently under pressure in dynamic environments.
  • Valid driver's license (preferably HGV Class 2) and practical experience driving vans or trucks with equipment.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork abilities to integrate effectively with diverse production crews.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 25kg), stand for long periods, and comfortably work at heights.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant technical qualification or certification in lighting design, stage production, or a related field.
  • Experience with video mapping and projection technologies for integrated visual effects.
  • Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience with specific lighting consoles such as Avolites, grandMA, or ETC Eos platforms.
  • IPAF (International Powered Access Federation) or PASMA (Prefabricated Access Suppliers' and Manufacturers' Association) certification.
  • Current First Aid certification.
  • A portfolio demonstrating previous lighting design work or significant project contributions.
