Job Description

Qacha’s Nek Hotel is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Grounds Crew member to join our team in Ha Makhangoa. This full-time, on-site position is absolutely crucial to maintaining the pristine appearance and functionality of our hotel’s expansive outdoor areas, which are often the first impression our guests receive. As a key member of our facilities team, you will play a vital role in ensuring our gardens, lawns, and walkways are always immaculate, reflecting the natural splendor of the Qacha’s Nek District. Your daily tasks will be diverse, ranging from routine maintenance such as precise mowing, meticulous trimming, and expert pruning to more specific projects like new plantings, effective irrigation management, and swift debris removal. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine landscape maintenance including mowing, weeding, edging, raking, and blowing.
- Prune shrubs and trees, and plant new flowers, shrubs, and trees as directed.
- Maintain irrigation systems, ensuring proper watering schedules and system functionality.
- Remove leaves, debris, and litter from all outdoor areas, ensuring cleanliness and tidiness.
- Operate and maintain various landscaping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and hand tools safely and effectively.
- Assist with seasonal planting and garden bed preparation.
- Monitor grounds for pest infestations or disease and report issues to management.
- Ensure all safety guidelines and protocols are followed during daily operations.
- Support other facilities maintenance tasks as needed, contributing to overall property upkeep.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to perform physically demanding tasks outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of landscaping techniques and plant care.
- Familiarity with operating common groundskeeping equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers).
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and aesthetics.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or a similar outdoor maintenance role.
- Valid Lesotho driver's license (Code B or higher).
- Knowledge of local flora and climate challenges specific to the Qacha’s Nek region.
- Certification in pesticide application or specific equipment operation (a bonus, but not required).
