National Foods Limited is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Millwright to join our dynamic team in Marondera, Mashonaland East Province. As a Millwright, you will be instrumental in ensuring the optimal functioning, maintenance, and repair of our diverse range of industrial machinery and mechanical equipment crucial to our food processing operations. This pivotal role requires a meticulous individual with a strong foundation in mechanical principles, hydraulics, pneumatics, and precision alignment, capable of working independently and as part of a collaborative maintenance team.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing complex mechanical faults, conducting repairs, and installing new machinery to stringent specifications. You will be expected to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints, utilizing your expertise to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently, minimizing downtime and ensuring continuous production flow. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on all plant machinery and equipment to ensure optimal operational efficiency and extended lifespan.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical breakdowns in various production machinery, including conveyors, grinders, mills, packaging lines, and hydraulic systems.
  • Install, align, and commission new machinery and equipment according to manufacturer specifications and safety guidelines.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to guide repair and installation procedures.
  • Conduct precision adjustments and alignments of machinery components using specialized tools and techniques.
  • Execute welding, fabrication, and machining tasks as required for repairs and modifications.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and statutory regulations (e.g., Lockout/Tagout) to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and other maintenance personnel to optimize equipment performance and resolve recurring issues.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to machinery, processes, and maintenance practices to enhance reliability and efficiency.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Millwright in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical systems, including hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Competency in precision alignment techniques.
  • Basic welding and fabrication skills.
  • Familiarity with various hand and power tools common to the trade.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • National Certificate in Millwright, Fitting & Turning, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience in the food processing or FMCG industry.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems and basic troubleshooting.
  • Forklift operator's license.
  • First Aid certification.
