Job Description

We are seeking an accomplished and visionary Director of Analytics to join our dynamic team in Beitbridge, Matabeleland South Province. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive, long-term analytics strategy aligned with PPC Zimbabwe's overall business objectives and growth ambitions.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of data analysts, data scientists, and BI developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
  • Establish and maintain robust data governance frameworks, ensuring data quality, integrity, security, and compliance across all data assets.
  • Oversee the design, development, and deployment of advanced analytical models, predictive algorithms, interactive dashboards, and insightful reporting solutions.
  • Drive the adoption of data-driven decision-making across all business units through effective communication, training, and strategic stakeholder engagement.
  • Identify new opportunities for leveraging data and analytics to enhance operational efficiency, improve customer experience, optimize supply chain processes, and boost market performance.
  • Evaluate and implement cutting-edge analytical tools, technologies, and methodologies to maintain a competitive edge and ensure our analytics capabilities are future-proof.
  • Manage the analytics budget and resources effectively, ensuring optimal allocation and a clear return on investment for all initiatives.
  • Present complex analytical findings, strategic recommendations, and potential business impacts to executive leadership and key stakeholders in a clear, concise, and compelling manner.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or data science roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial capacity.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful analytics strategies that drive tangible business outcomes and organizational change.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL for complex data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.
  • Expertise in at least one major programming language for data analysis (e.g., Python, R) and statistical packages.
  • Extensive experience with leading Business Intelligence platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, QlikView) for data visualization and reporting.
  • Deep understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning concepts, and predictive analytics techniques.
  • Exceptional leadership, team management, and mentoring skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a technical team.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable business insights for non-technical audiences.
  • Strong project management abilities, capable of overseeing multiple priorities, initiatives, and deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or PhD in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Business Analytics, or Business Administration.
  • Extensive experience in the manufacturing, heavy industry, or logistics sectors, with an understanding of relevant operational data.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery) and big data technologies.
  • Relevant certifications in data analytics, data science, or major BI tools.
