Job Description

As the Director of Learning & Development at Career.zycto, you will be the strategic architect of our talent growth initiatives, shaping the future capabilities of our internal teams and client organizations across Zimbabwe. This pivotal role involves designing and implementing cutting-edge learning strategies that drive performance, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and ensure our workforce remains agile and highly skilled. You will identify critical skill gaps, forecast future talent needs, and develop innovative programs that meet these demands, positioning Career.zycto as a leader in human capital development. Your vision will directly influence employee engagement, productivity, and overall organizational effectiveness. This role demands strategic foresight, hands-on program development, and exceptional leadership to build a robust learning ecosystem. You will collaborate closely with senior leadership and department heads to align all learning initiatives with business objectives and deliver measurable results, ultimately attracting, developing, and retaining top talent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive, long-term learning and development strategy for Career.zycto, aligning with business objectives and client demands across Zimbabwe.
  • Lead the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of innovative learning programs, including leadership development, technical skills training, and onboarding initiatives, utilizing diverse modalities (e.g., e-learning, blended learning, workshops, coaching).
  • Conduct thorough organizational and individual needs assessments to identify current and future skill gaps, leveraging data analytics to inform strategic decisions.
  • Oversee the L&D budget, ensuring optimal resource allocation. Evaluate, select, and manage external vendors and training providers for high-quality and cost-effective solutions.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing L&D team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment and providing continuous professional development.
  • Establish robust metrics and evaluation frameworks to assess the effectiveness and ROI of all learning programs, reporting on their contribution to business outcomes to senior leadership.
  • Champion a strong culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing throughout the organization, promoting curiosity, growth mindsets, and self-directed development.
  • Research, recommend, and implement modern learning technologies (e.g., LMS, LXP, adaptive learning platforms) to enhance learning experiences, accessibility, and scalability.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in designing, developing, and implementing large-scale L&D strategies and programs.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with a track record of mentoring and developing L&D professionals.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning theories, instructional design principles, and modern learning technologies.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to use data to drive L&D decisions and measure impact.
  • Proficiency in project management and experience managing complex L&D initiatives from conception to completion.
  • Strategic thinking with a results-oriented approach to talent development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, or a related field.
  • Certifications in instructional design, coaching, change management, or specific HR/L&D methodologies.
  • Experience working with diverse teams and across multiple industry sectors in a consulting or advisory capacity.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Learning Experience Platforms (LXP) administration.
