Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Automotive Body Painter to join our dedicated team at Croco Motors in Bindura. This critical role involves preparing vehicle surfaces, matching colours, and applying paint finishes to restore vehicles to their original or desired appearance, following accidents or for custom work. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all paintwork meets our stringent quality standards and customer expectations. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, masking, and applying primers.
- Mix and match paint colours accurately to achieve precise colour harmony with existing paintwork.
- Apply multiple coats of paint, including basecoats, clear coats, and specialty finishes, using spray guns and other equipment.
- Perform minor body filler work and sanding to ensure a smooth, flawless finish.
- Inspect finished products for defects such as runs, sags, and unpainted areas, and rectify as needed.
- Operate and maintain paint booths, spray guns, and other painting equipment.
- Adhere strictly to safety procedures and regulations, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Collaborate with panel beaters and other technicians to ensure efficient workflow and quality outcomes.
- Keep abreast of new painting techniques, materials, and equipment advancements.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an Automotive Body Painter
- Expertise in surface preparation techniques (sanding, masking, priming)
- Proficiency in paint mixing and colour matching
- Skilled in operating various spray painting equipment
- Knowledge of different paint systems (e.g., waterborne, solvent-based)
- Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Understanding of safety protocols related to painting and hazardous materials
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
