Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Database Administrator (DBA) to join our dynamic IT team, based in our Saint Pierre, Moka District office. As a DBA at Rogers Capital, you will be instrumental in ensuring the performance, integrity, and security of our critical database systems that underpin our extensive operations. Your role will involve managing various database environments, including SQL Server and Oracle, across our diverse business operations. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of database management, from installation and configuration to continuous monitoring, proactive maintenance, and rapid troubleshooting. Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, patch, and upgrade database software (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle) across various environments.
- Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement optimization strategies to ensure peak efficiency.
- Manage database security, including user access, roles, permissions, and data encryption.
- Develop, implement, and rigorously test database backup and recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
- Perform routine database maintenance tasks such as indexing, statistics updates, and integrity checks.
- Collaborate with development teams to design efficient database schemas, optimize complex queries, and ensure data integrity.
- Ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness for critical database systems.
- Provide expertise in database capacity planning and storage management to support future growth.
- Document database configurations, processes, and standard operating procedures comprehensively.
- Stay updated with the latest database technologies, industry trends, and best practices.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Database Administrator (3+ years in a professional environment).
- Strong proficiency in SQL Server and Oracle database administration, including advanced features.
- Expertise in T-SQL and PL/SQL for scripting, querying, and stored procedures.
- Extensive experience with database backup, recovery, and replication strategies (e.g., AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Data Guard).
- Solid understanding of database security principles and implementation, including auditing.
- Familiarity with performance tuning and optimization techniques, including query plan analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and diagnostic skills.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
- Relevant professional certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), or similar.
- Experience with cloud database platforms (e.g., Azure SQL Database, AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL).
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation of DBA tasks.
- Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra) is an added advantage.
- Familiarity with ITIL framework and practices for IT service management.
